TPOTY Rising Talent Award

Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) is one of the longest-running international travel photography competitions, founded in 2003, and it has attracted entries from 157 countries to date. Recent editions typically draw 20,000+ images from photographers worldwide, spanning both amateurs and established professionals. Over the years, TPOTY has become a reference point for travel photography and is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in the genre.



Within TPOTY, the Rising Talent Award was designed specifically as a springboard for photographers who are building momentum: it is open to amateur and semi-professional photographers aged 19+ , and it invites entrants to submit a ten-image travel portfolio that shows range across subjects (people, landscape, wildlife, street, documentary, and more). Judges explicitly look for potential and talent—with originality and creativity valued over mere technical perfection.
